Overview

A unique door has just opened; inviting a highly qualified, entrepreneurial executive to join an exceptional management team in growing a Dallas based non-profit research and education organization.

 

vtalent is partnering with a non-profit organization to assist them in hiring a passionate financial leader to a join a talented senior management team and assist in successfully shaping and scaling this organization based in Dallas, TX.  This is a unique opportunity to join a team of world-class Executives to grow an organization that is a catalyst for organizational culture change.  

 

Reporting to the chief executive officer (CEO), the chief financial officer (CFO) will play a critical role in developing and implementing the national strategy for the organization.  As a member of the senior leadership team, the CFO will be an advisor to the youth president and chief development officer, evaluating and assisting them with their financial plans and economic modeling.  S/he will be responsible for overseeing all fiscal and fiduciary responsibilities for the organization, in conjunction with the board of directors and executive committee.

Strategy

  • As a true business partner, this position will assess organizational performance against both the annual budget and the organization’s long-term strategy.
  • Develop tools and systems to provide critical financial and operational information to the CEO, leadership team, and divisions and make actionable recommendations on both strategy and operati
  • Engage the board audit and investment committees around issues, trends, and changes in the operating model(s) and operational delivery. Assist in establishing yearly objectives and meeting agendas, and selecting and engaging outside consultants (auditors, investment advisors).
  • Oversee long-term budgetary planning and costs management in alignment with the organization’s strategic plan, especially as the organization considers sponsorships, potential acquisitions, and collaborations with external organizati

 

Financial and Operational Management

  • Oversee all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems, ensuring compliance with appropriate Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, regulatory requirements and budget audit requirement Maintain internal control safeguards and coordinate all audit activities.
  • Partner with the vice president of information technology (IT) to procure specialized finance IT systems that meet the needs of the organization on an as needed basis.
  • Manage cash flow and forecastin Develop a reliable cash flow projection process and reporting mechanism that includes minimum cash threshold to meet operating needs.

Qualifications

Qualifications        

Education and Experience, Licenses and/or Certifications

  • The CFO will be a seasoned and mature leader with broad finance experience, ideally beginning in accounting, followed by experience gathering and evaluating financial information and making actionable recommendations to senior leadershi S/he will have experience managing the finance function (accounting, budgeting, control, and reporting) within a diverse, division-based entity.

Computer and Information Technology Skills

  • Solid experience with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint.
  • Experience assessing information technology needs for the organization’s financial needs, and working with information technology staff to manage finance and accounting software package

 

Special Position Requirements

  • This position will require occasional domestic travel.
  • This position will require overtime and weekend work commensurate with the level of this position in order to perform the role effectively.
