vtalent is partnering with one of our award winning clients based in  Fort Worth, TX, and seeking a Sr. VP of Accounting to join their team.  The successful candidate will be a very handson experienced professional, with strong knowledge and experience in all areas of corporate accounting, excellent interpersonal communication skills, and a proven personnel management and team building skill set.  This position is accountable for the administrative, financial, and risk management operations of the Client, to include the maintenance of financial and operational strategies, metrics tied to that strategy and the ongoing development and monitoring of control systems designed to preserve company assets and report accurate financial results. The role will also be involved in joint venture and partnership structure, documentation and tax planning.


Specific Areas of Responsibility Include:

  • Actively participate in the executive management of the Client.
  • Review financials and performance with Corporate Controller and executive team.
  • Oversee quarterly investor reporting and Co-Invest Fund investors.
  • Manage the day to day activities of the property accounting team to execute financial accounting, complete monthly accounting closes, managerial reporting and analysis.
  • Establish and maintain systems and internal accounting controls to verify the integrity of the Company’s accounting, systems, processes, data, and financial reporting.
  • Assist with founder’s personal investments, estate planning and tracking.
  • Closely monitor cash financial position by checking banking facilities to ensure balances are sufficient for operations and debt requirements.
  • Oversight of treasury functions including cash flow management and overseeing both relationships and administrative processes with banking and other financial institutions.
  • Preparation of Executive Reporting.
  • Preparation of annual Operating Company budget and forecasts.
  • Manage and develop the accounting team and staff development through hiring, training, and mentoring talent. Establish expectations and goals for professional growth and success within the Company.
  • Monitor upcoming property debt maturities and potential for recapitalizations.
  • Maintain relationships with construction lenders to keep developments funded.
  • Review and approve insurance policies/coverages for Trademark and our portfolio.
  • Manage tax planning / structuring of projects.
  • Oversight of Joint Venture documentation negotiation.
  • Actively track and monitor company roles and responsibilities.
  • Information technology – review and approve capital expenditures.
  • Available for accounting consultation with Controllers and Accounting Managers.
  • Develop, maintain, and ensure compliance with accounting policies, procedures, and controls.
  • Identify areas for process improvement and take the initiative to develop and implement enhancements in coordination with the rest of the Accounting team.
  • Maintain proficiency with the Company’s accounting reporting platforms: SageCRE300 (Timberline) and Yardi.
  • Know and track all Management, Leasing, Development and Construction Agreements with Partners and Third Party assignments to ensure Operating Company is accurately compensated and reimbursable items are collected.
  • Responsible for profit sharing maintenance and calculations.
  • Preparation of loan compliance reporting.
  • Prepare quarterly reporting to lenders and ensure that draws are funded timely.
  • Calculation of partner capital distributions.
  • Manage relationships and ensure tax work papers with external auditors.
  • Serve as Compliance Officer for Co-Invest fund.
  • Prepare annual reports for Co-Invest fund.



  • Degree in accounting or business administration or equivalent business experience with 8 plus years of progressively responsible experience.
  • Experience with partnering with an executive team.
  • Must have a high level of written and oral communication skills.
  • Preference given to Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant
  • Real estate experience is strongly preferred.
